The President's Poke

The President’s Poke

June, 2017

It's raining, it's pouring, the old man is snoring
Bumped his head and he went to bed
And he couldn't get up in the mornin'
Rain, rain, go away, come again some other day.

Enough, enough already!

Looks like next week we finally turn the corner to summer-like temperatures with the sun returning.  My yard is looking as green as can be, except I am putting more miles on my Yardman than my Harley.  Even with the rain, we have been busy with the ministry events.  We seem to have just a big enough window before the rain drops start falling to complete our task at hand.

Proverbs 16:18 (NIV)

18 Pride goes before destruction,
a haughty spirit before a fall.

1 John 4:19-21 (NIV)

19 We love because he first loved us. 20 Whoever claims to love God yet hates a brother or sister is a liar. For whoever does not love their brother and sister, whom they have seen, cannot love God, whom they have not seen. 21 And he has given us this command: Anyone who loves God must also love their brother and sister.

Matthew 5:23-24 (NIV)

23 “Therefore, if you are offering your gift at the altar and there remember that your brother or sister has something against you, 24 leave your gift there in front of the altar. First go and be reconciled to them; then come and offer your gift.

I hear about other clubs and the in-house backbiting and fighting.  Yes, in Christian clubs!  I hope I am correct in saying we have a tight-knit family that loves and respects each other.  When correction or rebuke comes, we have to put pride aside and decide what’s best for the Ministry.  We can’t hold grudges on any level.  It’s the easiest way to let SIN into the camp.

I pray that I become the example; that everyone feels free to talk to me and share their concerns.  I have been approached by some about different ways we can do things, and how we can make things better.  I never take it as an insult or let pride get in the way, but the information given I will use to build off of.  We have a Ministry with so many men and women of God, with wisdom and knowledge beyond my level.  I may be President, but it’s only a title.  A good leader surrounds himself with men and women that can help, encourage, build and grow our ministry.

On any level, let’s feel free to go to our Brothers and Sisters with our concerns, and fix any problems before we present our gifts on the altar. Let’s not let pride and sin enter the camp.  Let’s show forgiveness and the love of Christ.

Praying we have a good turn out this Saturday for our Chapter Meeting.  We will be going for a Fellowship dinner at Good Days in Bridgewater after the meeting. We all need each other, for we are ALL the many parts that make up the body of CHRIST.
