The President’s Poke

SIGNS AND SEASONS

And the sign said everybody welcome, come in, kneel down and pray

But when they passed around the plate at the end of it all,

I didn't have a penny to pay,

So I got me a pen and a paper, and I made up my own little sign

I said thank you Lord for thinking about me, I'm alive and doing fine.

We don’t care if you have a penny to give or a dollar (of course I’m not talking about money, but your time).  With the riding season upon us, “Do what you can”.  A famous President once said, “You don’t have to make every ride, just do what you can”.  Some of us have family obligations, some have other ministries, and others have to report to jobs. That’s why it’s so important to have scripture to fall back on:

1 Corinthians 12:12-18 New Living Translation (NLT)

One Body with Many Parts

12 The human body has many parts, but the many parts make up one whole body. So it is with the body of Christ. 13 Some of us are Jews, some are Gentiles,[a] some are slaves, and some are free.  But we have all been baptized into one body by one Spirit, and we all share the same Spirit.[b]

14 Yes, the body has many different parts, not just one part. 15 If the foot says, “I am not a part of the body because I am not a hand,” that does not make it any less a part of the body. 16 And if the ear says, “I am not part of the body because I am not an eye,” would that make it any less a part of the body? 17 If the whole body were an eye, how would you hear? Or if your whole body were an ear, how would you smell anything?

18 But our bodies have many parts, and God has put each part just where he wants it.

You could say some of us are Road Captains, some are Secretaries, some are Vice Presidents.  No matter how you look at it, we are one body in Christ.  Since God has put all of us where He wants us, we should also know that if we stub our big toe, another part can fill in.  The greatest value of our Chapter is that people are willing to step up and fill a void.  The “No man left behind” mentality.  Last year Linc filled in for me as Road Captain on occasions, Rich would fill in for Blake, and now Pastor Bob will fill in for Carl until he is healed from his surgery.  Do you see the rhythm here?  Not one of us is more important than the other.  We need the support of all the other parts.

Pastor Brad from Full Throttle Biker Church posted this this morning:

SEASONS. Gripping God's strength to learn contentment in seasons of little or plenty, ease or challenge is critical for spiritual health. Study Phil 4:10-14.

I hope this letter finds you well and that we see you all on Saturday night for the Chapter meeting at Dunkin Donuts at 5pm.  We are hoping to have a special guest speaker sharing with us his knowledge on “Biker Protocol”.

We always seem to have hands and feet, elbows and knees showing up for the meeting.  It would be nice to see some ears, eyes and noses for a change…

…for we are many parts to one body…the body of Christ.

With love from your brother and sister in Christ,

Jim and Kathy.
